Product Description

Product Description
S-Carboxymethyl-L-Cysteine CAS: 638-23-3 High Purity
Carbocisteine, also called carbocysteine, is a mucolytic that reduces the viscosity of sputum and so can be used to help relieve the symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) and bronchiectasis by allowing the sufferer to bring up sputum more easily. Carbocisteine should not be used with antitussives (cough suppressants) or medicines that dry up bronchial secretions. Carbocisteine is produced by alkylation of cysteine with chloroacetic acid.
S-Carboxymethyl-L-cysteine/ Carbocisteine is a respiratory mucolytic agent. Its action is similar to that of bromhexine in that it causes the disulfide bond of mucin in sputum to be cleaved, thereby reducing the viscosity of sputum and increasing the mucus fibres in sputum, lubricating the bronchial lining, increasing the secretion of low viscosity salivary mucin and reducing the production of high viscosity rockweed mucin, thereby reducing the viscosity of sputum and making it easier to cough up.
Function

An important pharmaceutical raw material; used in the synthesis of a variety of drugs, can reduce the stickiness of respiratory secretions, for the treatment of chronic tracheitis, emphysema, tuberculosis and so on.
