Hydrated lime is a type of dry powder made from limestone. It is created by adding water to quicklime in order to turn oxides into hydroxides. Combined with water and sand or cement, hydrated lime is most often used to make mortars and plasters. Its chemical name is calcium hydroxide, or Ca(OH)2.
When making hydrated lime, a manufacturer must first make quicklime. Quicklime is made directly from the calcination in raw limestone by the process of calcining and consists of calcium oxide and magnesium oxide. In this process, limestone is first broken up to reduce its size. Then it is washed and taken to kilns to be heated through a three step process: preheating, calcining, and cooling. Once cooled, the quicklime is crushed and then water is added.
Hydrated limes are classified by the amount of water they retain and their maximum air content. S types retain 85 percent water, N types 75 percent. NA and SA types are classified as having a maximum air content of 14 percent, and N and S types have seven percen

1. Use
It is mainly used to neutralize acid in wastewater, adjust the PH value of wastewater, and can form hydroxide precipitation with heavy metals in wastewater. In wastewater treatment, it also has the function of breaking milk and improving coagulation effect. Its ability to regulate the PH value of wastewater. At the same time, it also has the advantages of low use cost and better coagulation effect of wastewater.
2. Mechanism of action
After being dissolved in water, it ionizes into free ions in water, and the hydroxide ion will combine with the hydrogen ion in the acid to form water, which is actually a reaction between the acid and the base in the water, so as to achieve the effect of regulating the PH of the wastewater.
3, the advantages of PH complex alkali
1. Alkalinity
2, not only can adjust the PH value, but also has the function of breaking milk and improving coagulation effect;
3, in some wastewater, the water is clear, especially the more complex wastewater (such as circuit boards, electroplating and other wastewater) effect is especially obvious;
4. In some wastewater, it also contributes to the effect of heavy metal sedimentation and phosphorus removal;
5, the use of low cost, to meet the enterprise's high-quality, low-cost production requirements.
